Bronte is a Sicilian town of about 20,000 inhabitants. It is situated in the province of Catania and is famous all over the world because is the major centre of the production of pistachio nuts. Located at the bottom of  Mount Etna, the volcano that Sicilians love to call 'A Muntagna (i.e. 'the mountain' in local dialect), Bronte offers the perfect habitat for the growing of the finest quality of pistachio in the world. Moreover, in January 2010 the “Pistacchio verde di Bronte”eventually received the PDO Certification (Protected Designation of Origin) from the European Commission.

Azienda Agricola Rapio

It is a pleasant summer morning when we are driving through the Po Valley towards Vespolate, a small village in the south of Novara province, surrounded by rice and soy fields. We are going to visit Azienda Agricola Rapio and meet its owner Vincenzo, his wife Kity and their children Michele and Francesco. They invited us for lunch, because they want their words about their product to be supported by facts. They offer us risotto with sausages and then we start a pleasant chat.

The Langhe is a hilly area in the south-east of the river Tanaro in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, a paradise surrounded by small Medieval towns among the hills. Tourists can relax and enjoy the glimpses and the worldwide famous traditional dishes and wines. In fact, this area is famous for White Truffle of Alba, hazelnut of Langhe and wines such as Barolo, Nebbiolo and Barbera. IFF came here to meet Luisa, owner of Pasta d’Alba factory.
